OUR MISSION

The Fremont Middle School staff, in partnership with the community, will teach all students so that they realize their academic and personal potential. We are committed to empowering our students so that they will succeed in school, the workplace, and life.

GOALS

  • Teach students to improve their writing skills across the curriculum.
  • Teach students responsibility in caring for themselves and others.
  • Improve time on task across the curriculum.

Fremont Middle School houses 700 students in grades 7 and 8. We operate on a nine period day with classes scheduled for approximately 46 minutes. Our ninth graders have a high school schedule. They are offered a full complement of academic classes including Math, Science, Social Studies, and English. Students may also choose electives ranging from Computer Lab to Vocational Agriculture.

The seventh and eighth graders are housed on the third floor of the building. Each grade is divided into three teams comprised of approximately 140 students per team. Each team has five regular education teachers and a special education instructor. Core teachers in Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies share the same students. Seventh and eighth grade teachers have two planning periods per day. One planning period is a personal planning or conference period. The second is a common planning period, where core teachers meet to discuss academic interventions performance goals, testing, curriculum, and professional development. We have an excellent teaching staff that is committed to meeting the needs of students.

Students may also choose to be involved co-curricular activities such as Band, Choir, and Orchestra. These groups participate in numerous recitals and concerts around the region.

Fremont Middle School offers a full range of clubs and extra curricular activities. They include Drama Club, FFA, Quiz Team, Spanish and French Club, Builders Club, Chess Club, Student Council, Power of the Pen, Yearbook and the School Newspaper.

We also have the traditional extra curricular athletic programs: girls’ cross-country, volleyball, basketball, track, and swimming. In addition, boys’ sports include football, basketball, cross-country, track, wrestling, and swimming.

BELIEF STATEMENT

We believe that:

  • All students can learn regardless of previous performance or personal background.
  • All students have the right to learn without being disrupted by others.
  • Communication is an essential part of the educational process. Student’s self-esteem can, and should be, enhanced.
  • Students should learn to work cooperatively. Students share in the responsibility for their own learning and actions.
  • Education is a collaborative effort among the student, school, and family and the community.
  • All students should be treated with dignity and respect.
