Lutz Elementary school is one of the seven elementary schools in the Fremont City School District. Lutz was dedicated in 1929 and named after Amelia R. Lutz, a devoted and beloved teacher in Fremont for over fifty years. This neighborhood-friendly school has a long history of high academic expectations and tradition. Students have performed well on the proficiency tests and have been state champions several times in the Quiz Bowl competition.
Lutz houses 337 students in grades K-6 with two learning disabilities classes and two severe behavior units. Many of our students participate in the talented and gifted programs. The student council provides students a chance to demonstrate their leadership skills. Numerous opportunities are provided for the students, such as COSI, educational assemblies supported financially by the PTO, and a partnership with Croghan Colonial Bank, which promotes life skills and career exploration. Thanks to Schoolnet monies each classroom has three computers.
Our academic excellence is attributed to a veteran staff with an average experience level of 16 years. Approximately 50 percent of the staff has earned masters degrees. Part of our success is due to the teamwork of parents, students and teachers. High expectations are held by all.
Our motto, "Lutz Pride - Smiles Wide", is indicative of our community's commitment and regard for the education of tomorrow's leaders.
