Parent Involvement Information:
- How do they get involved?
We encourage all parents to take an active interest
in their child’s education. This is the greatest motivator for students to do well
in school. Parents are encouraged to visit our school and take part in all
activities. Every classroom teacher will provide a weekly memo to keep parents
informed of activities and events taking place in the classroom, building, or
district. Volunteering in your child’s classroom is another way to get involved.
Contact the school office at (419) 332-5361 or your child’s classroom teacher
for information regarding upcoming activities and events..
WATCH D.O.G.S. is an initiative to provide more positive male role
models in schools for students, demonstrating by their presence that
education is important. Fathers, grandfathers, step-dads, uncles, and
other positive male role models can be a WATCH D.O.G. This
involves a 1-day commitment for the school year in which a man
spends that day working with students and helping with various
other tasks around the school and in their child’s classroom. If you
know your availability and would like to sign up to be a WATCH
D.O.G., please call Mr. Ward at 419-332-5361.
Atkinson Elementary School provides many opportunities for
parents to get involved. The Atkinson PTO is a great way to meet other parents
and keep current on school happenings. For more information on dates and
times of meetings and events, click on our PTO link. Activities which require
parent involvement include CHAT Time, Grandparent’s Day, Donuts for Dads,
Muffins for Moms, OSU/Michigan Dinner, Santa Shop, Book Fairs, and Field
Day. These activities occur before, during, or after school. All grade levels can
also use parent volunteers to assist the classroom teachers. Please call the
school office if you are willing to donate some of your time to these causes.
